The brief statement above on April 7, 1945, in the Bergen Evening Record, mentioning Donald G. Kuper being wounded in action on Iwo Jima for which he received the Purple Heart.

After Donald G. Kuper was wounded on Iwo Jima, he apparently returned to the fight and was involved with the invasion of the Volcano Islands. 

What I found interesting about the article in the Bergen Evening Record was the
“Shapely Julie London” as the photo caption states is in the center of the paper reporting on the Latest War Casualties.
